The eastern Mediterranean shares boarders with Europe, Asia and Africa. The deep waters of the Mediterranean reach up to 3 miles in depth and are commonly hit by sudden and surprisingly strong winds making these waters suitable for a more experienced sailor. All this can make for extremely challenging sailing.

The most popular waters for relaxed, easy sailing are in the Ionian Islands just off northern Greece. Here the calm harbors of Lefkas and Meganisi provide many with their first experience of warm weather sailing. The small islands make navigation simple with Corfu, Ithaca and Cephalonia follow on to other favored destinations in the north. The Peloponnese peninsula and the Saronic Gulf in southern Greece offer calm waters and light winds that are perfect for those learning to sail.

Greece, Turkey and Croatia are the among the top destinations within the Eastern Mediterranean that are suitable for all levels of capability. The most alluring aspect of these islands is that they are all unique, offering a mix of , culture, mythology and natural beauty. The Aegean and Mediterranean seas between Greece and Turkey display and array of turquoise waters, scattered with sheltered bays, ancient ruins and archaeological sites.
